KLIX demonstrates environmental credentials - Klix Coffee Vending Machine

17/05/2007

Market-leading drinks systems company KLIX hit all the green buttons at the AVEX 2007 exhibition in Earls Court, London last month. Following the exhibition’s chosen theme of the ‘Green Road’, KLIX and its sister brand, FLAVIA, highlighted the company’s environmental policies, initiatives and plans for the year.

As well as the ongoing presence of effective environmental management systems (EMS) that closely monitor the company’s environmental peformance, KLIX outlined a number of green initiatives to AVEX visitors as part of it’s ‘Brighter Tomorrow’ programme. These include:

• ‘Save a Cup’ scheme – as a founding member of this initiative, KLIX is encouraging customers to take part so that cups consumed can be recycled to make a range of products including pencils, rules and cup-carrying trays.
• The WEEE Directive – KLIX has been actively involved in the WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) directive and, in conjunction with the Vending Association, has set up the C10C machine recycling scheme.
• Landfill - in the last two years, KLIX has reduced the waste sent to landfill from its UK factories by 40%, whilst increasing the amount it recycles.
• Packaging reduction – KLIX continually strives to minimise the use of packaging in all products whilst ensuring the consumer still receives the best possible quality drink.
• Sustainability – KLIX and FLAVIA have a responsible approach to both sustainable coffee production and sourcing, and run a programme of work with smallholder coffee farms in Kenya.

“Our business goes beyond commercial targets to acknowledge our role in economic, environmental and social terms,” explains Richard Marris, UK KLIX Market Director. “We are committed to providing customers with high-quality products that are produced in ways that minimise our operational impact on the environment and we constantly strive to develop new ways and initiatives to make a difference.”
